The location in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Industrial Laborer, Thunder Bay Sawmill. This job is full-time permanent.

 

As an Entry Level Mill Operator you will be responsible to provide safe operation of your assigned sawmill equipment to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing unscheduled downtime.

Your responsibilities:

  • Comply with our health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of your assigned areas of the factory
  • As required operate equipment safely and monitor their use
  • Ensure that product quality meets our standards and customer requirements
  • Work will require your ability to perform repetitive, manual tasks for extended periods of time, including, but not limited to, piling lumber, standing for long hours, walking, shoveling, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Experience with and/or around manufacturing machinery and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal profile:

  • Grade 12 High School diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial, manufacturing, construction, or labour experience is an asset.
  • You are 18 years and older
  • Your uncompromising approach to safety is recognized
  • Effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 4-days-on/4-days-off schedule
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Thunder Bay Sawmill (156 Darrel Avenue, Thunder Bay, ON)
  • You can lift and manipulate heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds)
  • You are interested in the industrial environment and are resourceful

  • Reporting to the Sawmill / Planer Supervisor, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
