Description
LJB Inc. is a fast-growing national engineering firm specializing in civil and structural engineering and geospatial, safety, health, and environmental services. The firm has a 50+ year history of leveraging new technologies to drive innovation and bring unique and sustainable value to our clients.
We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Entry-level Civil Design Engineer to serve a varied client base and help expand our Land Development Practice in our Dallas, Texas office. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.
Annual Compensation: $70,000-80,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

ENTRY-LEVEL CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan and design a wide range of land development projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations or analyses.
  • Prepare drawings and graphics using CAD platforms and other graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Assist in preparing engineering reports, permit applications, bid documents and other typical written communication.
  • Perform construction observation to ensure conformance to design specifications, assist in resolving issues that arise and strengthen design skills through a greater understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Perform various types of engineering modeling tasks, potentially including: Hydraulic pipe sizing, pump station sizing, stormwater runoff calculations and modeling.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and opinions of probable construction cost for various design projects.
  • Analyze, review, and understand design guidelines, specifications, ordinances and rules and regulations associated with development and design.
  • Perform basic survey work, such as using a level to confirm elevations of existing site features.
  • Interact and communicate with office staff, design team members, contractors, regulatory officials and clients.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ENTRY-LEVEL CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • EIT or EI Certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience, required.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with design and plan production in AutoCad Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
