At Moss Utilities, we specialize in underground utility installations across the DFW Metroplex. Our project experience includes commercial, single-family residential, multi-family residential, and public works infrastructure.

HR Assistant

Position Summary

The HR Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources team, assisting with onboarding, I-9 processing, employee records, benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and other day-to-day HR functions. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources within a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process new hire paperwork and complete Form I-9 verification.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files, HR records, and HRIS data.
  • Assist employees with general benefits questions and support open enrollment activities.
  • Provide administrative support to payroll, including data entry, timesheet corrections, and basic employee pay inquiries.
  • Coordinate interviews, schedule candidates, and assist with job postings.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding initiatives across multiple departments.
  • Prepare, scan, file, and organize HR documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and other special projects.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Zero to two (0–2) years of Human Resources or administrative experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in construction, utilities, or another field-based industry.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems.
