Human Resources Manager (HR)

River Terrace Retirement Community | Bluffton, IN

River Terrace Retirement Community is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our skilled nursing facility in Bluffton, IN.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department, ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations while supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, benefits administration, and HRIS management. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting both employees and facility leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an effective, organized, and efficient payroll system to meet the needs of the facility

  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures governing the facility's human resources functions

  • Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports in a timely manner

  • Verify employment eligibility, references, and background checks for applicants

  • Enter and maintain employee information within the HRIS system, including payroll and personnel records

  • Process employee status changes, wage increases, benefit updates, and other employment-related transactions

  • Coordinate and assist with new employee orientation and onboarding

  • Maintain employee benefit records, including health, dental, life insurance, voluntary benefits, PTO balances, and FMLA documentation

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and employment regulations

  • Assist managers with employee relations, policy interpretation, coaching, and performance-related matters

  • Maintain accurate personnel files and confidential employee records

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

  • Previous Human Resources and payroll experience required

  • Long-term care or healthcare Human Resources experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems

  • Knowledge of employment law, payroll practices, employee benefits, FMLA, and compliance requirements

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
