Job description

  • POSITION PURPOSE
    • Provides pharmaceutical services through a wide range of professional and technical activities necessary to serve the needs of the patients, providers, hospital staff, and the community. Duties include supervising of departmental technical personnel activities, provision of clinical services and drug information, involvement in quality assurance and performance improvement programs, inventory control, intravenous admixture program, prescription filling and dispensing, regulatory compliance, drug repackaging and manufacturing, and involvement in educational activities.

    • Wisconsin Pharmacist Licensure
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
    • A residency or experience in a hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Provides medication order verification and clinical services to the nursing staff, physicians, and patients. These functions include: floor/unit rotations; patient monitoring, admission history, pharmacist discharge activities; value monitoring; and active involvement on the code team.
    • Work includes providing direct supervision of interns, technicians, and student work activities. These include: medication filling; prescription preparation; sterile products preparation; inventory control; and repackaging. Provide the professional checking for these processes.
    • Responsible for the procurement, control, dispensing, and maintenance of all medication used within the hospital. Must be able to perform or assist in all departmental tasks that are associated with these procedures.
    • Participates in departmental or systemwide programs that work towards quality assurance and performance improvement. Participates in regulatory compliance. Collects data and evaluates medication events, adverse drug reactions, quality assurance and drug utilization review.
    • Demonstrates the ability to access, enter and adjust patient information in the hospital information system.
      Salary Range: $51.50 to 80.00/hr (based on experience)
