Job description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and methodical Data Analyst I to support clinical and translational research studies through data management, quality control, and statistical analysis and reporting. The Data Analyst will work collaboratively with investigators, senior analytical staff, and clinical teams to assist with maintaining high-quality research datasets and supporting ongoing clinical research projects.

This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates interested in clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or healthcare data analytics.

As a health care organization, we have the responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities. Beth Israel Lahey Health requires that all staff be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, validation, and maintenance for clinical research studies.
  • Perform routine data quality checks and resolve discrepancies under supervision.
  • Manage and update study databases, including REDCap and Excel-based tracking systems.
  • Generate tables, figures, and reports for abstracts, manuscripts, grant applications and presentations.
  • Support data extraction and organization from electronic health records (EHR), surveys, laboratory systems, and research databases.
  • Perform routine statistical analyses for clinical research studies using appropriate methodologies under the guidance of investigators and senior analytical staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including data dictionaries, coding manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist investigators and research staff with data requests and study tracking.
  • Ensure secure handling of confidential research data in compliance with HIPAA, IRB, and institutional policies.
  • Participate in research meetings and contribute to study operations and data management activities.
  • Collaborate with senior analysts and biostatisticians on data preparation for manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in clinical research, healthcare analytics or research data management
  • SAS certification preferred
  • Proficiency in statistical software, mainly SAS / R.
  • Experience working with REDCap and/or clinical research databases.
  • Experience in using data visualization & reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods commonly used in clinical and epidemiologic research.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
