Job Overview
The Casualty Construction Associate Underwriter supports underwriting for new and renewal construction casualty accounts. This role assists with submission review, policy processing, and servicing while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. The position plays a key role in maintaining service standards, supporting underwriting workflow, and delivering responsive service to brokers and internal partners.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support underwriting of new and renewal construction casualty accounts, including intake, review, and triage of submissions
  • Evaluate submissions for completeness and follow up on outstanding items (applications, loss runs, financials, project and subcontractor details)
  • Assist with account clearance, pre-bind processing, and underwriting file setup in internal systems
  • Process policy transactions including new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements
  • Prepare binders, policies, and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and alignment with quoted and bound terms
  • Maintain complete and organized underwriting files and documentation throughout the account lifecycle
  • Respond to broker inquiries and provide timely updates on submission, documentation, and policy status
  • Coordinate with underwriting, claims, accounting, and operations to support account servicing and resolve issues
  • Track renewal activity and support follow-up to drive service quality and retention
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and surplus lines requirements
  • Maintain accurate data across underwriting and policy administration systems
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, missing information, and processing issues
  • Support audit requests, reporting, and data quality initiatives
  • Contribute to process improvements and provide support during high-volume periods
Qualifications and Experience:
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1–3 years of insurance experience (commercial lines, casualty, construction, or E amp;S preferred)
  • Entry-level candidates with strong administrative or analytical skills may be considered
  • Basic understanding of property amp; casualty insurance
  • Familiarity with construction risks and casualty lines preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; underwriting systems experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary range for this position is $70,000–$90,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, and geographic location.
