As an R&D intern, you will have the chance to work with our experienced research and development scientist, gaining practical skills and actively participating in the creation of exciting new pet treat products.

Job Description:

As an R&D assistant in the pet treats industry, you will play a vital role in supporting our research and development efforts. You will be responsible for various tasks related to ingredient formulation, product development, and quality control, ensuring that our pet treat products meet the highest standards of quality, taste, and nutrition.

Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Batching: Accurately measure and batch ingredients for the formulation of pet food products, following established recipes and guidelines. Collaborate with the R&D Scientist to ensure proper ingredient selection and quantities.
  • Lab Extrusion: Operate and maintain lab extruder equipment to simulate the production of pet food products on a smaller scale. Conduct extrusion experiments and assist in optimizing processing parameters.
  • Equipment Testing: Conduct tests and experiments using various lab equipment, such as mixers, blenders, ovens, pH meter, NIR and moisture analyzers. Record and analyze data, identify trends, and provide insights to improve product quality.
  • Quality Control: Assist in conducting quality control tests on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished pet treats. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal specifications.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and present them to the R&D Scientist.
  • Research Support: Support the R&D Scientist in researching new ingredients, processes, and technologies that could enhance the quality, nutrition, and palatability of our pet treats.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, quality assurance, and sales. Communicate findings, updates, and recommendations clearly and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Holds or currently pursuing a degree in food science, food engineering, nutrition, chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
  • Basic understanding of food processing principles and equipment
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
