With more than 150 physicians in every orthopedic specialty, IBJI offers care for adults and children from some of the most accomplished and respected orthopedists in the country. Serving northern Illinois and northwest Indiana with over 100 locations, IBJI makes it easy to access care. Our headquarters is in Park Ridge, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
Our clinical services include advanced MRI imaging, pain management, non-surgical and surgical treatment plans, rheumatology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, wellness, and sports and sports training. Ortho Access walk-in clinics provide same day care for orthopedic injuries. Comprehensive care offered all in one place enables physicians, therapists and staff to work closely together, so that patients and families achieve better outcomes. Collaborative care is also more efficient. In many cases, IBJI services are substantially less expensive than those provided by large healthcare systems and emergency rooms.
Summary
The Epic Analyst works as a member of the Clinical Information Systems team that will support Epic's PB Application as well as other business applications requested. Under minimal supervision, configures, tests, modifies and maintains the software application. Participates in end-user design and validation meetings and supports roll-out of new implementations by participation in testing, design of training modules, integrated testing, and command center support. Supports live applications and sites by sharing on-call support, monitoring Help Desk tickets and designing enhancement and optimization solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Obtain and maintain in-depth knowledge of software functionality; acquire and utilize knowledge of operational workflows to be implemented
  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software
  • Partner with business owners across the revenue cycle, clinical leadership, and IT to identify and analyze the root cause of user and system issues.
  • Submit and track system requests, and submits system enhancements and new edits, and participates in system upgrades.
  • Develop efficient workflows and claim scrubber edits, and implement technology solutions within the revenue cycle's operating systems
  • Historical data extraction for risk, trending, and forecasting analysis
  • Quality and productivity metrics for internal & vendor assessment
  • Liaison between revenue cycle operations, clinical leadership, IT and finance departments
  • Epic system configuration of routine maintenance items for PB coding, including but not limited to: public reports, work queues, revenue structure, validating IT build.
  • Cross-department project management, workflow education, and end-user training.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of analysis for various PB Coding leadership and external customers by creating a reporting dashboard (PB Coding and Charge Capture Dashboard).

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Previous experience with physician coding or Epic Resolute Billing (1 year preferred)
  • Proven excellence in communication, presentation, and organizational skill
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with high attention to detail
  • Ability to present complex data in meaningful method, ie., charges, graphs
  • Ability to adjust to and implement change
  • Problem Solving skills

Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Health Care field with related training. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
  • Certification in EPIC PB (Professional Billing): Required
  • Experience with process improvements
  • Experience working in an healthcare ambulatory setting preferred
  • Experience implementing industry best practices to drive optimized operations
  • Excellent proven analytical skills
  • Strong technical command of common office tools (e.g. Microsoft office suite, departmental applications)
  • Comfortable speaking in larger groups on workflow details

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
