Job description

Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented Buyer/Quoter Specialist to join its Saline, MI team! The Buyer/Quoter Specialist will support customer quoting activities and procurement operations by sourcing materials, analyzing costs, and ensuring timely procurement of components and services required for printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing. This position works closely with Sales, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to develop competitive quotations and support customer and production requirements while achieving cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

Responsibilities of the Buyer/Quoter:

  • Prepare customer quotations by analyzing bills of materials (BOMs), material pricing, labor requirements, and manufacturing costs.
  • Source electronic components, raw materials, and services from approved suppliers to support customer and production requirements.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier quotations, lead times, pricing, and terms to achieve cost and delivery objectives.
  • Create and manage purchase orders while maintaining effective communication with suppliers regarding order status and delivery commitments.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, costing, and quotation data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Partner with Program Management, Engineering, Production, and Sales teams to support new product introductions (NPI), customer quotes, and ongoing production activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance, material availability, and supply chain risks while proactively identifying cost-saving opportunities and resolving shortages.

Qualifications of the Buyer/Quoter:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, quoting, supply chain, or buyer/planner functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing services (EMS), printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), or related electronic manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to interpret bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and component specifications.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
