What is an entry level document controller?

Entry level document controllers are professionals responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining documents within a company or project. They ensure that all documents are properly filed, updated, and accessible to authorized personnel. Their duties often include data entry, scanning, distributing, and tracking document versions to maintain accuracy and compliance with company standards. This role is essential in industries such as construction, engineering, and manufacturing, where accurate documentation is critical. Entry level positions typically require strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level document controller?

To thrive as an Entry Level Document Controller, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of document management practices, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with document control software (such as SharePoint, Documentum, or Aconex) and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office are typically required. Strong communication, time management, and teamwork abilities help you manage document flow and collaborate effectively with colleagues. These skills ensure accurate record-keeping, efficient information retrieval, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
