Job description

The Environmental/Radiation Technician is an entry level position.

In year one of the position, the position will provide radiation survey support for the ZREC Blending Campaign.

After the campaign concludes, the position will support both the environmental and radiation programs and to assist both departments were needed.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):

· Complete daily and weekly radiation sampling of roadways, people and equipment.

· Complete inspections per permit and site requirements.

· Assist the Radiation/Environmental Specialist and/or the Environmental Manager with projects as needed.

· Data management in support of the radiation license 183-348-3 and site environmental permits.

· Daily calibrations of all radiation detection and environmental equipment on the site.

· Assist with filling in for the Environmental and Radiation Technicians when absences occur.

Skills/Qualifications

· High School Diploma/GED

· Able to work in outdoor environments in different types of weather

· Strong planning, negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.

· Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and time management skills.

· Good Driving record

· Proficiency in Microsoft WORD and Excel.

· Ability to adapt to change.

· Ability to complete a survey certification program within first six months of employment.

· Ability to acquire environmental certifications as needed.

· Shift work required include weekends and some nights

· Ability to learn from reading over permits and plans.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE JOB

· Required to work with minimum supervision/guidance requiring a strong self-motivator

· Year One of employment will require the person to be ready to work and at the site by 5:30 am

· Year ONE will be unique to Year Two and beyond.

· Work week will consist of Monday - Thursday (Year 1) and Monday - Friday, Year 2 and beyond.

Starting Salary Ranges between $24-26/hour based on experience and qualifications.


Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening in accordance with company policy.
