Job description

Position: Balance Sheet Accountant
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full Time
Industry: Multi‑Entity Corporate Environment

About the Role

Our client, a large multi‑entity organization with a centralized accounting model, is seeking a Balance Sheet Accountant to join their Shared Services team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys digging into balance sheet details, and takes pride in producing accurate, audit‑ready financials.

You’ll own a portfolio of balance sheet accounts, lead the reconciliation process, analyze variances, and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure financial data is complete, supported, and compliant with accounting standards.

This is a great fit for someone who wants meaningful responsibility, exposure to complex entities, and a clear path for growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations for a defined set of accounts across multiple business units
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation variances with accuracy and urgency
  • Ensure all period‑end balances are supported with valid documentation and aligned with internal controls
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing schedules, explanations, and supporting documentation
  • Perform account analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to validate data, resolve issues, and maintain strong financial governance
  • Assist with special projects, process enhancements, and the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Provide guidance to junior team members as needed

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience (public, private, shared services, or multi‑entity environments all translate well)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting systems
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and consistency
  • Strong analytical skills and a natural curiosity for understanding the “why” behind variances
  • CPA or CPA‑track is a plus but not required

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Exposure to a high‑volume, multi‑entity environment that builds real technical depth
  • Clear visibility into the business and direct interaction with accounting leadership
  • Stable organization with strong processes and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • A role that balances autonomy with support, giving you room to grow

Compensation

Competitive salary aligned with experience, plus comprehensive benefits.
