Point Mapping Specialist I of Centralized Services, Point Mapping Team is an entry level controls application engineering position under direct supervision of the Point Mapping Manager and will be expected to perform basic assigned tasks under standard procedures and processes. The role will be responsible for executing the Point Mapping process as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). This role involves initiating and completing point mapping projects through two distinct phases: Dummy Mapping Graphics Only Projects and Referencing Points with Database. The specialist will ensure continuous progress, minimize errors, and enhance project completion rates. Most importantly this role provides Quality control for the imagery, as well as the live systems. This is a position requiring collaboration across various teams and levels of customers.

What you will do:

  • Project Initialization:
  • Review projects in the Workfront system, ensuring all documentation and necessary files are available.
  • Accurately enter all project details in the PM Project Grade and Update sections, when and if project necessary documentation or information is not available.
  • Dummy Mapping Setup:
  • Utilize available imagery to create dummy mapping graphics.
  • Ensure all graphical elements are correctly aligned and labeled for future reference.
  • Documentation:
  • Document all actions and decisions in the PM Project Grade section.
  • Include email correspondence related to the project and copy notes into the Projects Update section.
  • Quality Check:
  • Review dummy mapping graphics for accuracy and completeness.
  • Address minimal corrections promptly.
  • Progress Tracking:
  • Regularly update project status in the Workfront system.
  • Document and communicate any issues encountered to relevant stakeholders.
  • Database Integration:
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of the received database.
  • Integrate the database with existing dummy mapping graphics.
  • Point Referencing:
  • Reference all points using the data provided in the database.
  • Ensure each point is accurately plotted and corresponds with the database information.
  • Verification and Validation:
  • Conduct a thorough review of the mapped points for accuracy.
  • Validate the mapping against project requirements and client specifications.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Complete a descriptive note on any issues encountered, including email correspondence.
  • Copy the descriptive note into the Projects Update section in Workfront.
  • Final Review and Completion:
  • Perform a final quality check to ensure all project components meet the required standards.
  • Mark the project as complete in the Workfront system, ensuring all documentation is up to date.

What you will bring:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using project management software, preferably Workfront.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to address issues promptly.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study preferred; entry-level position with no required experience; or equivalent combination of education and basic experience in the Controls field or engineering. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Trane Software tools. Proficient computer skills are required. Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit project types are preferred.

Ability and/or experience in the following, including:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in point mapping or a related field.
  • Experience with database integration and graphical mapping tools.
  • Comprehend, discuss, and apply new concepts in the HVAC controls industry
  • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, or other documents
  • Draft reports and business correspondence
  • Effectively analyze, conclude, and present information to team members
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Produce high-quality work and/or services in a fast-paced environment

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Demonstrated high-level English proficiency (spoken and written). Ability to effectively draft reports, business correspondence, present information and respond to questions from customers and service personnel. Familiarity with reading, analyzing, and interpreting plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings and electrical schematics is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with and understand engineering and HVAC concepts, such as basic principles of thermodynamics and electrical circuits, and fundamentals of reading necessary documentation to complete work.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Capable of conducting thorough reviews and quality checks
