Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the fundamentals of electricity, electronics, and solid-state devices. Knowledge of biomedical equipment and functions. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions. Ability to comply with safety, environmental, and infections control standards and practices. Ability to maintain files and records. Employees working in dialysis departments must be able to discern color differences for water testing.
Responsibilities
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and tests analog and/or digital biomedical electronic equipment, instruments, and apparatus.
- Performs preventive maintenance and/or electrical safety inspections on equipment. Tests, adjusts, and calibrates to federal, state, and local electrical and fire safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assists with the installation of patient care or clinical laboratory equipment and with the development of methods and procedures for proper operation of electronic equipment.
- Ensures compliance with safety and environmental procedures.
- Confers with faculty, staff, clients, vendors, students, and/or supervisors in determining equipment problems or fulfilling service requirements.
- Evaluates medical equipment and prepares reports and documentation for unusual incident equipment malfunctions. Assists in creating and maintaining database files for equipment inventory.
