Applications Developer II - Manufacturing Systems

The IT Applications Developer - Manufacturing Systems will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise manufacturing applications that enable efficient factory operations across production, quality, supply chain, and engineering functions. This role focuses on the development and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), production data systems, workflow automation, system integrations, and reporting solutions that support digital manufacturing initiatives. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Information Technology teams, this individual will develop scalable software applications and integrated business solutions that improve operational visibility, process consistency, traceability, and manufacturing efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIESManufacturing Application Development
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain manufacturing and operational applications that support factory execution, quality management, material traceability, and production workflows.
  • Develop and support MES applications and related manufacturing systems using Tulip or similar low-code/no-code manufacturing platforms.
  • Create intuitive operator and technician interfaces that improve usability, reduce process variability, and streamline manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions and automated workflows.
  • Support integration between manufacturing systems and enterprise platforms such as ERP, PLM, quality systems, and databases.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics tools that provide real-time operational visibility and production insights.
Systems Integration & Automation
  • Design and implement automated data collection, validation, and reporting solutions to support production and quality objectives.
  • Develop scripts, APIs, and system integrations to improve manufacturing data flow and reduce manual processes.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives through workflow automation and manufacturing system enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot application, integration, and data-related issues in support of factory operations.
  • Assist with software testing, deployment, user training, and ongoing support for manufacturing applications.
Data & Process Management
  • Maintain accurate, reliable, and secure production data systems that support operational decision-making and compliance requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of manufacturing application architecture, system performance, and user adoption.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and IT teams to improve process consistency, data integrity, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Implement and refine production controls to ensure correct materials, processes, testing, and documentation are used throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Support process documentation, change management, and system validation activities as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, or supporting business or manufacturing applications.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, medical device, or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production workflows, assembly, testing, and quality processes.
  • Experience developing or supporting enterprise applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of database design, data structures, and best practices for storing and managing production data.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and manufacturing software platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), application deployment, and support processes.
DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of statistical analysis, process improvement, and operational reporting.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations in regulated industries.
