Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Summary

Kinross is looking for a full-time Geologist to join the Nevada Round Mountain site. Reporting to the Chief Geologist, you will play a key role defining and exploring Round Mountain’s deposit.  This is an ideal role for an Geologist with a strong background in production management, Ore Control, C, Target generation, and reporting. Qualified candidates may be eligible for both a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Managing daily ore control, including mapping, sampling, and inspections reports.
•    Development in depth forecasting workflows to ensure accurate mineral extraction
•    Assisting in safe workflow developments for Technical Services duties
•    Geologic modeling of intercepts and contacts encountered 

Experience and Education

•    BS in Geology
•    Strong written communication and presentation skills
•    Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, stay organized and effectively manage priorities in a dynamic work environment.
•    Proficiency with software’s such Acquire databases, Vulcan, Leapfrog, AutoCAD, and Microsoft suite is preferred
•    Be authorized, or able to be authorized, to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
