Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries in Essex, VT is seeking a first shift (M-F, 7am-330pm) Chemical System Maintenance, Deionized Water, and Operations Principal Technician to work in the facilities organization, reporting to Dustin Nuhfer. For this 200mm Semiconductor manufacturing facility, the equipment includes chemical supply systems, chemical blending units, reverse osmosis, ion exchange resin, filtration, and other manufacturing support systems. This position is fully on site and requires some rotating holiday / weekend coverage. The ideal candidate will possess some demonstrated leadership /supervisory experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations by leading teams across 4 shifts in safe, compliant, and efficient chemical handling while providing guidance and mentoring
  • Ensure proper system operation by performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
  • Respond to and troubleshoot system alarms and controls
  • Perform mechanical field work on filters, resin vessels, UV lights, pumps, valves, tanks, tubing, piping, and controls
  • Lead and coordinate improvement projects to increase safety, continuous operations, and organizational capability
  • Work in a team environment with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Provide technical leadership to operate, maintain, and enhance various types of distribution equipment utilized in the Manufacturing areas.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Qualifications:
  • Education - associate degree in engineering, technology, or related field
  • Experience - Minimum 7-8 years in related or mechanical field
  • Schedule flexibility as weekend coverage will be required
  • Fluency in English Language - both written & verbal
  • Physical Capacity Demands - ability to lift 30 lbs and wear a respirator
  • Some demonstrated leadership / supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and collaboration across various teams
  • Wear a cleanroom suit and personal protective equipment for cleanroom environment, as needed
  • Ability to climb up / down ladders and fit into confined spaces for maintenance purposes
  • Fluency in Microsoft 365 software programs and in basic computer applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, CoPilot, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education - 4 Year bachelor's degree in technical or related field
  • 8+ years' experience, and or education, in facilities systems such as water treatment, water purification, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, chilled water and glycol chilled water, compressed air, chemical distribution, and control systems
  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Expected Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $100,800.00
