Job description

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for duties within the Engineering function. This includes performing Guest Room Maintenance with the team, learning the purpose and operation of all building systems especially life safety systems and emergency operations. This person must have a general working knowledge of General Contracting, HVAC, Carpentry, Painting, and Electrical maintenance. This person will be responsible for shift coverage and therefore must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance: guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, using a windows-based computer system.

The Engineering supervisor may also be responsible for training and scheduling. The Engineering Supervisor shall always strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests. Additionally, this position requires strong leadership skills, and a willingness to work different shifts as the demands of business dictates.

You'll partner closely with the Area Director of Engineering to ensure the property operates seamlessly balancing technical expertise, team leadership, and a strong sense of ownership. Additional responsibilities include working closely with vendors, processing invoices, and completing payroll items.

Essential Job Functions:

         Assist the Engineering Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Engineering in administrating and coordinating daily maintenance, special projects involving carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance of the property.

         Perform and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of building systems. Visually inspects quality of work and directs staff in tasks according to performance and productivity standards.

         Understanding, analyzing, administration of the work order system as it relates to coordinating work, closing work orders, analyzing needs of the resort and accounting for all hours worked.

         Communicates effectively with the Engineering Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Engineering to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

         Assist all trade engineers when needed to provide direction.

         Communicate major repairs, and items that cannot be repaired, to the Engineer leaders for further action.

         Be available to report to the resort in the event of any emergency which necessitates the skills and expertise of the Engineering Supervisor. By example such emergencies may include, but not be limited to, bad weather, fire, power outage, equipment failure, etc.

         Hyatt believes that each guest should be treated with respect and professionalism. Individuals must possess and demonstrate the ability to interact with all guests, internal and external, effectively with tact and diplomacy in line with Wild Dunes Resort's service standards.

         Skilled in the use of related tools, including hand and power tools.

         Always work in a safe and orderly manner.

         Track all colleague inventory and maintain established inventory levels.

Colleague is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

The hourly rate for this position has a range of $33.50-35.50 depending on experience.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have a potential of risk to your health or safety. The following is a list of some of the devices required. This is only a sample list and is not to be all-inclusive do to the nature of the work conductive to the Engineering Department.

         Protective gloves, eye protection, breathing protection, hearing protection, lock-out/tag-out protection and any other equipment as necessary to provide a safe working environment.

All work duties conducted by Engineering personal will be evaluated and regular scheduled training and refresher training will be conducted as required by law. Associates will be trained as to the use and care of any and all required PPE equipment. The hotel provides this required PPE and it is the responsibility of engineer to wear this equipment as it relates to daily work assignments. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE to your Manager.

         Follow all Safety Policies and Procedures.

         A minimum of 5-years building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred

         A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems, is required for this position.

         Possess good electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

         Able to read blueprints, wiring schematics and technical manuals.

         Ability to read and write the English language fluently. Applicants with additional language skills a plus.

         Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and other associates. 

         Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and Energy Management System.

         Interpersonal skills necessary to provide the highest level of guest satisfaction.

         High School graduate or equivalent required.

         Valid drivers' license. 

Physical Demands:

         Long hours sometimes required, including nights, weekends and holidays.

         Ability to stand for long hours at a time and to work in confined spaces as necessary.

         Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.;

         Ability to walk and stand for long hours and comfortable working with all heights. Must be able to climb ladders, etc. 

         Must be able to twist, bend and squat frequently; kneel or crawl occasionally.

         Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat); with exposure to chemicals and dust.

         Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements and simple grasping constantly; pushing & pulling, squeezing and overhead reaching frequently.
