Process Engineering Manager

The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the process engineering function to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance across operations. This role oversees process optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, capital projects, and the development of engineering talent. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who can balance strategic initiatives with day‑to‑day plant support.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the direction of the Engineers
  • Reports to the Plant Manager
  • Supports succession planning and technical skill development within the engineering team
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute improvement projects aligned with business goals and KPI's.
  • Establish and track measurable performance improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Establish and maintain a sustainable roadmap for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and capital projects with lean principals.
  • Ensure improvements are standardized, documented, and sustained.
  • Communicate progress, results, and lessons learned to plant and senior leadership.
  • Develop and deliver Lean Six Sigma training at the Yellow/Green Belt level.
  • Establish dashboards and performance metrics to monitor process performance.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot chronic equipment and process issues.
  • Support the deployment of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, 5S, SMED, TPM)

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical field required

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS Engineering, or related) preferred
  • Formal training in Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, statistical analysis, and process optimization
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical tools and software (e.g., Minitab, JMP, Excel)
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or operational excellence roles within a manufacturing or operations environment
  • 3–5+ years of leadership or people management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management of CI or engineering teams
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross‑functional improvement initiatives using DMAIC, Kaizen, and Lean methodologies
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable business results, such as cost reduction, cycle time improvement, quality improvements, and waste elimination
  • Experience partnering with operations, quality, supply chain, and leadership teams to drive sustainable process improvements
  • Ability to train, certify, and develop Green Belts and Black Belts across the organization
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk and/or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, such as when handling files or manuals. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is primarily a manufacturing plant setting, with regular presence on the production floor required. Occasional travel to other facilities may be required.
