Job description

Engineering & Construction Inspector Career Opportunity

DKK is looking for an experienced Engineering & Construction Inspector who is interested in a unique opportunity to work within an established firm (20+ years). We are a young firm with exponential growth that has many opportunities for the right person to excel within its operation.

The selected candidate will primarily perform on-site inspections related to drainage systems, shoring installations, structural elements, and other civil/structural construction activities. This position will involve significant travel to project sites and direct coordination with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, engineering standards, and applicable codes. It is important for the new team member to accept responsibility for their projects while ensuring the quality of the work product. In short, DKK is not looking for an employee, we are looking for a team member ready to make an impact!

Job Requirements:

  • Perform on-site inspections for drainage systems, shoring installations, structural components, and related construction activities
  • Perform field verification of completed work for drainage certifications, shoring certifications, and related closeout documentation
  • Document field conditions through photographs, notes, measurements, and organized reports
  • Review construction plans, engineering drawings, surveys, specifications, and permit documents to verify compliance in the field
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, certifications, and supporting documentation for clients and regulatory agencies per DKK templates and standards
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve field issues and deficiencies
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved plans, safety standards, and applicable codes/regulations
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, subconsultants, and internal team members
  • Manage multiple projects and inspection schedules throughout South Florida
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, PDF markup tools, and inspection/reporting software efficiently
  • Maintain professionalism and strong attention to detail while working independently in the field

Job Type: Full Time / Contract / Freelance Opportunities Available

Office Location: Royal Palm Beach, FL

Required Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Inspection, or related field preferred

Required Experience:

  • Construction Inspection: 3–5 years preferred
  • Experience with drainage systems, shoring inspections, structural inspections, or related construction activities
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
  • Field reporting and certification documentation experience preferred

Required Licensure: 

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required
  • EI, or related inspection certifications preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and navigate construction sites for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and active construction site conditions
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds

Compensation: $22-24/hr. with increases available based on impact to existing projects. Mileage reimbursement and travel compensation will be available depending on assignment.
