Engineering Assistant Jobs in Utah (NOW HIRING)

Description

Primary duties involve field data collection and documentation and assisting engineers with office and project-related tasks. This role is on-call.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitors field explorations (drilling and test pit explorations) and construction projects.
• Documents field conditions and write field reports.
• Performs typical field sampling activities including soil, groundwater, surface water, sub-slab vapor, and indoor air sampling, under the guidance of engineers and scientists.
• Assists engineers with office and project-related tasks including data tabulation, proposals, and report preparation.
• Completes analyses under general supervision.
• Assists with organizing and maintaining field equipment as needed.
• Responsible for being field-ready based on Health and Safety training requirements. Conducts work safely and support the safe work practices of others.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program specializing in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Experience interpreting and applying basic engineering concepts a plus.
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
• All candidates are subject to complete drug/alcohol testing.
• Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
• Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
• Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
• All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.

Our best estimate of the hourly range for this position, located in Salt Lake City, UT is $23 per hour. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers' salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
