Sales Engineering Assistant

Are you a technically minded problem-solver with a passion for engineering, custom machinery, and customer collaboration? We're looking for a Sales Engineering Assistant to support our design, estimating, and quoting functions—helping turn customer concepts into complete engineered solutions.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a sales-related field preferred
  • 5+ years of prior experience with an automation integration company
  • Experience and proficiency in SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, layouts, and basic mechanical design)
Qualifications
  • Experience estimating or supporting quotes for special machines, custom automation, material handling equipment, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical components, manufacturing methods, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with customers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, motion systems, or industrial automation components.
  • Ability to generate clear presentation materials and quote packages.
Responsibilities
  • Develop concept models, layouts, and preliminary designs for custom equipment and special machines using SolidWorks.
  • Assist with creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and presentation renderings to support sales quotations.
  • Review customer specifications and translate functional requirements into workable design concepts.
  • Support engineering handoff by preparing clear design documentation for internal teams.
  • Prepare accurate material, component, and fabrication cost estimates for custom equipment projects.
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain pricing for purchased components, machining, and outsourced processes.
  • Build detailed quotes, proposals, and costing breakdowns for internal review and customer delivery.
  • Evaluate labor requirements, assembly needs, and engineering hours based on project complexity.
  • Assist Sales Engineers with technical discussions, project scoping, and customer follow-ups.
  • Help prepare proposal packages, concept presentations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organized project files, quote records, and revision histories.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineering, controls, purchasing, and production teams.
  • Participate in internal design reviews, brainstorming discussions, and project kickoff sessions.
  • Support continuous improvement in estimating processes, component libraries, and costing tools.
