Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Presales Engineering Manager plays a key role during the early stages of projects and proposal development for our customers. This position requires competencies across multiple technical disciplines (architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, HVAC, electrical engineering, monitoring and control systems, and fire protection) necessary for developing technical solutions. The role also demands people management and leadership skills, as well as the ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and proposals from both technical and business perspectives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, developing complex designs during the proposal phase of projects (modular and hybrid data centers and power rooms)
  • Reading and understanding tender documentation
  • Interpreting customer requirements received through the sales team
  • Understanding relevant laws and standards
  • Coordinating technical disciplines (architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, HVAC, monitoring and control systems, fire protection)
  • Technical coordination of the project with customers and suppliers
  • Coordinating and supervising the preparation of technical documentation for Vertiv data center solutions
  • Reviewing documents prepared by team members
  • Incorporating customer requirements into proposed solutions
  • Providing technical assistance and information during sales activities
  • Guiding engineers on their development path in data center design, handling personal growth and performance goals of team members
  • Refining engineering tools and methods used in Vertiv data center design
  • Offer creative, out of the box solutions to the customer
  • Create and improve existing engineering plans, processes and procedures
  • Perform annual performance evaluations and set objectives for Engineering teams
  • International travel for customer meetings, seminars, and training.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience
  • Excellent knowledge of data center design, understanding technical systems, functionalities, and architecture
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with multiple engineering and manufacturing teams to translate architecture and concepts into design and implementation
  • Client interaction for presenting solutions and concepts, and through documented specifications
  • Leadership skills
  • Time management and self-motivation
  • Computer skills: proficient user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), PowerPoint (A), AutoCAD
  • Technical/practical skills: strong analytical skills, assessment skills, organizational skills
  • Core competencies: initiative, creativity, persuasiveness, ability to handle conflict and solve problems, detail orientation, analytical thinking
  • Fluent in English
