Position Description: Commercial Technical and Program Manager


In this role, you’ll support Program Managers, Client Program Managers, subcontractors, the Field Specialist team, and other partners across our work. You’ll help drive achievement of contract goals and objectives for assigned programs, working within established guidelines, priorities, and expectations. This position brings technical expertise and leadership across both client and Evergreen teams, while also supporting program implementation projects, coordination efforts, and process improvements that help us keep getting better.

  • Demonstrate expertise and experience in energy efficiency program management.
  • Have the ability to work independently, with strong decision-making skills, using discretion when interacting with others while creatively thinking of better ways to do things. 

 Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with internal team, clients, customers, trade allies, and others via email, phone, and in person to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions regarding program goals and policy interpretation; referring to appropriate person when unable to respond.
  • Company-wide resource for specific offerings such as commercial and industrial Lighting, commercial controls technology integration, trade ally management, and other emerging technologies.
  • Develop or support development and lead strategic plan discussions with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to define/deliver future program improvements and goals.
  • Create or support creation of periodic reports and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
  • Develop new pilot program concepts that meet defined client needs, specifically around achieving program goals, emerging technologies, and new approaches to reaching underserved communities, such as small businesses.
  • Actively engage with organizations across the country on relevant emerging tech and other opportunities to help inform potential client needs.
  • Provide expert technical knowledge and specialized support for customers and team members as needed.
  • Provide expert technical knowledge and specialized support for business development conversations with clients, including utilities and other energy-efficiency entities.
  • Lead or support content development, presentation, and expertise for webinars, in-person training for commercial programs and emerging technologies.
  • Program launch and support as needed for programs/pilots when appropriate.
  • Program strategy development to support client delivery, for example, LLLC or controls technologies.
  • Act as a team and company representative for business development purposes when possible.
  • Travel and attend/speak at conferences or regional and national trainings, as requested, on relevant client or Evergreen offerings.
  • Research technologies, their challenges, benefits, and business case for Evergreen and clients.
  • Act as lead contact for organizations like DLC, IES, AHR and others as appropriate.
  • Develop or support development of external-facing documents including authoring articles, newsletters, activity timelines, technical presentations, and reports.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent experience in business, utilities, government, consulting, or the energy industry.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification, preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for relevant materials
  • Ability to pursue multiple portfolios of work at one time.
  • Experience creating and launching innovative utility programs.
  • Proven track record managing utility clients to high levels of satisfaction.
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation along with verifiable insurance are required, as there will be travel for meetings, conferences and other important events.


Physical Requirements:

  • Long periods of standing/walking on rough/uneven surfaces;
  • Sitting for extended periods at a computer;
  • Vision – near/far;
  • Spatial ability/depth perception/color discrimination;
  • Speak/hear. Provide clear, accurate communication, hear telephone & warning devices.
  • Located in Pacific Northwest states, or Salt Lake City, UT area.
