Job description:

Home Energy Assessor โ€“ Make a Difference in Homes Across Virginia | Travel & Overnight Stays Required

Turn your experience in construction, home improvement, or inspections into a rewarding role that helps families save money and live more comfortably.

Home Performance Inc.ย is growing fastโ€”and weโ€™re looking for dependable, motivated individuals to join us asย Home Energy Assessors.ย Whether you're experienced in energy assessments or just have a solid background in home services, weโ€™ll train you to become an expert in helping homeowners identify energy-saving opportunities through ourย Weatherization Assistance Program.

Every home you assess helps a family cut energy costs, live more comfortably, and reduce their environmental impact. Youโ€™ll be the first point of contactโ€”the face of our missionโ€”and play a vital role in making energy efficiency accessible.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Visit residential homes to completeย on-site assessments
  • Gather data on insulation, HVAC, air leakage, and overall energy usage
  • Walk homeowners through your findings and explain recommended improvements
  • Answer questions, build trust, and help them understand the next steps
  • Accurately document all findings in our system for processing and follow-up
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth transitions from assessment to upgrades

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Experience inย home improvement, inspections, energy efficiency, HVAC, or construction
  • Strong communication skillsโ€”youโ€™ll be face-to-face with homeowners daily
  • Detail-orientedโ€”youโ€™ll be documenting homes thoroughly
  • Tech-comfortableโ€”able to use a tablet or CRM (training provided)
  • Self-motivatedโ€”you can manage your schedule and work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight 3-4 night per week aroundย
  • Must have valid DL
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
  • Must attend training in North Carolina for the first month of employment
  • Prior experience with weatherization programs, BPI certification, or energy auditsโ€”but not required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base pay + performance-based commission
  • Paid trainingโ€”no experience in energy assessments needed
  • All tools and equipment provided
  • Supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Growth potential in a fast-expanding company
  • Flexible scheduling depending on location and role
