What is end user testing?

An End User Testing (UAT) job involves evaluating software, applications, or systems from the perspective of the end user to ensure they meet business requirements and function as intended. Professionals in this role create test cases, execute testing scenarios, document defects, and provide feedback to developers and stakeholders. They help identify usability issues, functionality gaps, and overall user experience concerns before final deployment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities for someone in end user testing?

In an End User Testing role, your daily responsibilities may include creating and executing test cases based on product requirements, documenting defects and usability issues, and working closely with developers to verify resolutions. You'll often participate in feedback sessions, report findings to project managers, and help ensure the product meets real-world user expectations before release. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design and support, is also common. This variety keeps the role engaging and allows you to make a significant impact on the final user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in end user testing, and why are they important?

To thrive in End User Testing, you need a strong understanding of software functionality, attention to detail, and an ability to identify usability issues, typically supported by experience in quality assurance or user acceptance testing. Familiarity with bug tracking tools (such as JIRA), test management systems, and knowledge of test case creation are commonly required, and certifications like ISTQB can be advantageous. Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset help you effectively interact with developers and stakeholders. These expertise ensure you can provide valuable user-centric feedback, detect issues early, and contribute to delivering high-quality, user-friendly products.

How do I become an end user tester?

To become an end user tester, you typically need good communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with the software or product being tested. Many roles require basic computer knowledge and the ability to follow testing instructions, often using testing tools or platforms. Some positions may require prior experience or certifications in quality assurance or software testing.

Job description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we're building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

Who We Are Looking For

Slate is seeking an experienced SAP leader to support the Warsaw, IN Production Control through both the SAP S/4HANA implementation and ongoing production support after go-live. This is an on-site role reporting into Production Control. During implementation, the role will translate Slate's shop-floor, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain requirements into a scalable SAP solution and own User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with Production Control and plant operations stakeholders. Post go-live, the role transitions into day-to-day production support for the Warsaw plant, resolving issues, maintaining configuration, and keeping SAP aligned with evolving plant operations.

Work Authorization Requirement

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

What You Get To Do
  • Lead end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation activities for the Warsaw plant, including business process design, configuration, testing, cutover, and go-live support.
  • Design and configure core Finance and Controlling (FICO) processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Center Accounting, and Product Costing.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate FICO with Materials Management (MM), Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Order-to-Cash (OTC), Plan-to-Make (PTM), Logistics Execution (LEX), and Inventory Management (IM) work streams.
  • Conduct business process workshops and fit-gap analysis, and prepare business blueprint and functional specification documentation.
  • Manage data migration and cutover activities from legacy systems to SAP, including master and transactional data, using tools such as LSMW, IDOC, and Winshuttle.
  • Design and support EDI/IDOC/ALE/RFC interfaces between SAP and other enterprise systems (e.g., MES, PLM, Ariba, Concur, Salesforce).
  • Collaborate with ABAP developers on custom reports, BAPIs, user exits, BADIs, and WRICEF objects to extend standard SAP functionality.
  • Develop and execute test scenarios, coordinate unit and integration testing, and secure business sign-off.
  • Own User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the SAP implementation: build the UAT plan and test scripts with Production Control and plant operations, coordinate UAT cycles, track and triage defects, and obtain formal sign-off before go-live.
  • Create end-user training materials and lead training sessions for Production Control, finance, controlling, and operations teams.
  • Serve as the on-site point of escalation for day-to-day SAP production support issues at the Warsaw plant, ensuring timely resolution in line with SLAs.
  • Monitor and maintain SAP configuration and interfaces supporting Warsaw plant operations, proactively identifying and resolving recurring issues.
  • Support period-end close, data validation, and internal/external audit requests for the Warsaw plant's Finance and Controlling processes.
  • Partner with plant operations, Production Control, and IT to assess and implement change requests, enhancements, and minor configuration updates post go-live.
  • Ensure the implementation and ongoing support model align with Slate's broader enterprise application roadmap and governance standards.
What you Bring To The Team
  • 10+ years of hands‑on SAP FICO implementation experience, including at least one full‑lifecycle (end-to-end) SAP implementation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling modules.
  • Experience integrating FICO with Materials Management, Procurement, Order-to-Cash, and Manufacturing/Production Planning modules.
  • Proven experience with data migration and cutover planning for legacy-to-SAP conversions.
  • Working knowledge of EDI/IDOC/ALE/RFC integration methods.
  • Strong grasp of techno‑functional concepts (ABAP debugging, BAPIs, user exits, BADIs) sufficient to collaborate effectively with technical development teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead workshops and train both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience planning and leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles with business and plant operations stakeholders, including test script design, defect tracking, and formal sign‑off.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience implementing or supporting SAP within the automotive or EV manufacturing industry.
  • SAP FICO Certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent accounting credential.
  • Experience with a greenfield SAP implementation at a scaling manufacturing company.
  • Familiarity with broader enterprise application ecosystems (PLM, MES, Salesforce, Ariba).
SALARY RANGE

The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors. About Us

At Slate, we've got one job: building a vehicle you'll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don't like paying for stuff we don't need. We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.
