What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Employment RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Employment RN, you need a comprehensive understanding of occupational health, clinical assessment, and case management, typically backed by a nursing degree and RN licensure. Familiarity with occupational health software, electronic health records, and relevant certifications like COHN or COHN-S is highly beneficial. Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential for effectively managing workplace health issues and collaborating with both employees and employers. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and the overall well-being of the workforce.

What are some common challenges Employment RNs face when supporting patients returning to work after illness or injury?

Employment RNs often collaborate with employers, insurers, and safety specialists to create a safe and healthy work environment.

How to make an extra $2000 a month as a nurse?

Employment RNs can increase their income by taking on per diem or agency shifts, which often pay higher rates, or by working overtime and weekend shifts. Specializing in high-demand areas like ICU or emergency nursing and obtaining additional certifications can also lead to higher-paying opportunities. Building a diverse skill set and leveraging flexible schedules can help achieve the extra income goal.
