What will I do in this position if hired?
In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist in the Risk Analysis Branch, Mitigation Division, supporting implementation of the flood mapping program and related flood risk analysis activities. Typical duties include:
- Supporting the implementation of Risk MAP and related flood risk analysis activities by tracking project milestones, monitoring program deliverables, and helping ensure activities align with mitigation policies, guidance, and regional objectives.
- Supporting financial and program administration activities for flood mapping projects by tracking expenditures, reviewing funding actions, monitoring milestones for grants, interagency agreements, and technical contracts, and preparing status updates for management.
- Managing mitigation program data, databases, and tracking tools by maintaining accurate records, performing quality assurance reviews, evaluating program metrics, tracking regulatory or reporting milestones, and supporting compliant records management practices.
- Preparing and reviewing technical materials, reports, correspondence, outreach products, and briefing materials to ensure information is accurate, clear, consistent with agency guidance, and understandable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Coordinating with internal and external partners to support flood hazard mapping, risk communication, outreach, and mitigation assistance opportunities.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Qualifications
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

• Supporting mitigation, floodplain management, flood hazard mapping, or related program activities by tracking projects, milestones, funding actions, deliverables, or performance; and
• Analyzing program, financial, technical, workload, or operational data to identify issues, prepare reports or briefings, support decisions, or recommend improvements; and
• Coordinating with stakeholders to support program delivery, outreach, risk communication, data calls, or issue resolution.
