JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Elevator Maintenance to lead the Elevator Shop team and oversee the maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevator and vertical transportation systems across our Dallas campus. As Supervisor of Elevator Maintenance, you will supervise skilled mechanics, coordinate contractors, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and minimize equipment downtime to support critical patient care and campus operations; perform hands-on maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevator systems duties often.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Ten (10+) plus years of journeyman-level elevator maintenance, inspection, and repair experience.

  • Demonstrated supervisory/management experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of elevator systems, including relay logic and microprocessor controls.

  • Active CET/CETS, IUEC, or QEI national trade credential(s).

  • Active Texas Driver License.

  • Strong knowledge of Texas TDLR and ASME A17.1 safety standards. 

  • Knowledge of hospital safety compliance standards (such as CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)

  • Experience with CMMS, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, and confined-space procedures.

  • Effective computer and electronic skills.

  • Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.

Work Location: Dallas Campus, with travel to other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday; emergency response and after-hours support may be required for critical equipment failures.

Required

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or vocation school.
       
  • Experience
    • 10+ years experience in maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevators. 
       
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • (ELEVATOR) ELEVATOR INSPECTOR, must possess current Elevator Safety Inspection Certificate.
       

JOB DUTIES

  • Makes periodic elevator inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations as scheduled by preventive maintenance computer print-out.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts relays, controls, door operators and elevator pits as needed. Performs the lead role when responding to elevator emergencies.
  • Inspects hoist and governor cables for wear. Maintains control rooms, equipment, car frames, and safety devices in good working condition. Files all documents related to tests and inspections with TDLR to maintain Certificates of Compliance for all elevators.
  • Answers trouble calls and makes all necessary repairs.
  • Orders tools, parts, and equipment required for maintenance and repair of elevators. Prepares list of spare parts needed to be kept in inventory.
  • Reviews and recommends plans and specifications for new elevators.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises work of Elevator Mechanics; assigns to specific jobs, instructs in work to be performed and inspects work in process and at completion to ensure quality and adherence to work orders.
  • Performs periodic inspections of systems to determine need for maintenance, repair, or replacement.
  • Maintains time and attendance records for employees.
  • Makes cost estimates of jobs in terms of time and materials.
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures for assigned area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
