THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking an Electronics Test Engineer reporting to the Team Lead, Electronics Design on the Hardware Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will actively participate in all aspects of the testing of digital hardware for Silvus' StreamCaster MANET product line.

This position is 100% onsite, Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using electronics test equipment to evaluate system performance, evaluate compliance compatibility and troubleshoot operation issues.

  • Carry out hardware test execution and generate status and test reports.

  • Define verification matrix and internal specifications of performance.

  • Review test result data to ensure that actual performance meets expected requirements.

  • Review and recommend improvements to existing test strategies.

  • Recommend new test techniques and technologies to ensure system performance.

  • Design test fixtures and calibrate test equipment.

  • Understand proper use and handling of sensitive circuits and equipment.

  • Travel Requirement - Rare local travel, as required by Silvus (i.e. Irvine office).

  • Perform other related duties, of which the above are representative.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant hardware test experience.

  • Hands-on experience using test equipment such as bench top power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, thermal chambers.

  • Experience with digital interfaces such as RS-232, USB 2.0, 1000BASE-T Ethernet.

  • Experience validating power supply sequencing, efficiency, and ripple for DC/DC converters, LDOs and PMICs.

  • Must be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen) due to U.S. government contracts.

  • Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Test automation using Python or LabView.

  • Knowledge of guidelines for PCB layout.

  • Audio testing and characterization experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide clear summary of test status and any issues to broader team.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and work on several projects concurrently.

  • Detail oriented and have a firm commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Problem-solving, data analysis, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office environment.

  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:

  • - Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing.

  • - Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves.

  • - Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.

  • - Walking/Moving in the labs

COMPENSATION: $75,000 - 105,000/ annually

NOTE - As a US Federal Contractor, Silvus Technologies requires that ALL candidates being considered for employment for any position (regardless of level) MUST be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen).
