Safety Engineer
At XLI, our mission is to deliver exceptional construction experiences with a relentless focus on safety, quality, and innovation. We are seeking a Safety Engineer who is passionate about creating safe, high-performing environments on complex job sites. This role plays a critical part in implementing XLI's safety programs and fostering a proactive culture of risk awareness and compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist and support the Director of Safety and Risk Management in executing XLI's safety policies and procedures with the purpose of preventing accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct daily job site safety inspections, addressing unsafe conditions and work practices.
  • Oversee and support safety program implementation at the project level.
  • Lead or attend weekly site safety meetings and subcontractor pre-task planning sessions.
  • Stay current on safety best practices and maintain certifications in hazardous material remediation, confined space entry, fall protection, electrical safety, and PPE.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to project teams in delivering safe, high-quality construction work.
  • Participate in accident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare safety performance metrics and reports.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Safety and Risk Management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent combination of experience. CSP certification preferred.
  • 7-10 years of field construction experience at the foreman level or above.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in construction safety.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $81,000 - $130,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications in accordance with California pay transparency laws.
  • Typical starting compensation for this role ranges from $120,000 to $130,000.
  • Compensation may also include bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401(k), PTO, and wellness programs.
