Job Description

This role serves as the on-site safety lead for electrical operations on a data center construction project in Wisconsin. The Safety Specialist promotes a strong safety culture by monitoring daily field activities, enforcing regulatory and client requirements, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance across all site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site safety lead for electrical operations on a data center construction project, acting as a primary safety resource for field personnel and leadership.
  • Monitor daily activities of electricians and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices and compliance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine site audits, inspections, and jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards, verify controls, and support safe execution of work.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, client safety requirements, and company policies consistently across all work areas and crews.
  • Develop, maintain, and update safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) / Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and permit systems to align with project scope and evolving site conditions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, documenting findings and driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing field safety training to reinforce expectations and promote safe behaviors.
  • Manage risks related to lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, energized work, and elevated work, ensuring appropriate controls, permits, and procedures are in place and followed.
  • Track safety metrics, maintain compliance documentation, and prepare reports to support regulatory, client, and internal requirements.
  • Collaborate with project management, supervisors, and craft workers to integrate safety into planning, scheduling, and execution of work.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • At least 3 years of construction safety experience, with a preference for electrical construction environments.
  • Experience supporting safety on data center, industrial, or solar projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and OSHA safety standards applicable to construction and electrical work.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • Current OSHA 10-hour certification.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety training, toolbox talks, and field safety orientations.
  • Proven ability to perform incident investigations and root cause analysis in a construction environment.
  • Experience managing construction safety programs, including JHAs/JSAs, permit-to-work systems, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to oversee and influence safe work practices for electricians and subcontractors on active construction sites.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage field personnel and leadership on safety expectations and findings.
  • Organized and detail-oriented approach to tracking safety metrics and maintaining compliance documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification is preferred.
  • Professional safety credentials such as CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or other BCSP (Board of Certified Safety Professionals) certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in data center construction safety is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in construction safety with emphasis on electrical safety, LOTO, arc flash, energized work, and elevated work.
  • Familiarity with data center, industrial, or solar project environments and their unique safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead safety culture initiatives and influence safe behaviors across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret safety data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site at a data center construction project in Wisconsin and follows a Monday through Saturday schedule. The role operates in an active construction environment with ongoing electrical and data center-related activities. The Safety Specialist spends significant time in the field conducting site walks, inspections, and observations, as well as time in a site office maintaining documentation and preparing reports. The work environment involves collaboration with electricians, subcontractors, and project leadership, and requires consistent presence on-site to support safe planning and execution of work.

This is a Contract position based out of Kaukauna, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
