Wood is recruiting for a Field E&I Designer to join our team in the Greeley, CO area. This role will focus on supporting brownfield surface facilities retrofits, expansions, and debottlenecking projects in the Electrical & Instrumentation discipline. Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Northern Colorado area candidates strongly preferred, as no per diem or relocation are available for this role. No outside agencies. MUST HAVE FIELD EXPERIENCE!

As an E&I Designer, you will be responsible for producing facility designs and layouts with knowledge of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems. You will perform design tasks for purchasing and construction-level drawings, create reliable CAD models with precision, and develop and improve department practices/standards. Your role will involve conducting design reviews and traveling to job sites as required.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
  • Produce facility designs and layouts with knowledge of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems
  • Understand codes applicable to equipment and construction (NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, OSHA, NFPA, local codes, MCBU standards, and Chevron Engineering Standards)
  • Perform design tasks for purchasing and construction level drawings with limited supervision
  • Create reliable CAD models with precision, including assemblies, exploded view diagrams, and layouts with BOMs
  • Develop and improve department practices/standards
  • Review scope documents and specifications to ensure design meets SOW expectations, as well Wood and our client's requirements
  • Execute designs on challenging projects
  • Conduct design reviews and travel to client job sites as required
  • Develop working drawings from equipment specifications and detailed drawings
  • Create drawings involving plans, layouts, calculations, and bills of material
  • Perform layouts, design, and checking work from basic data supplied
  • Design and make detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations
  • Establish project drafting standards and monitor their conformance
  • Identify cost-effective solutions to design problems
  • Assist in bid evaluations
  • Design and construct models, prototypes, processes, or equipment
  • Prepare estimates of time, quantities, materials, and labor required for testing, installation, manufacture, design, or construction
  • Generate bill of materials from finished designs
  • Act as coordinator on small projects and prepare specifications for complex equipment and processes
  • Ensure quality in design and technical accuracy in drawings and material quantities
  • Plan assigned work effectively and liaise with the project team and line manager
  • Conduct site visits/surveys and provide inputs to site visit reports
