POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineer II will design, develop, test, and implement electrical systems for industrial manufacturing, energy, and renewable energy projects. This role serves as a project lead and works under the guidance of senior engineering staff while independently performing electrical design tasks, supporting project execution, and contributing to successful project delivery from design through installation and startup.


Electrical Engineering & Design

  • Design electrical equipment, systems, and facilities for industrial applications, including power distribution, controls, motors, conveyance systems, and safety systems.
  • Develop electrical engineering deliverables including:
    • Power one-line diagrams
    • Control schematics
    • Control panel layouts and bills of material
    • Interconnection diagrams
    • Cable schedules
    • Cable tray design criteria and drawings
  • Prepare electrical designs in accordance with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.
  • Design electrical, gas, and fluid heat trace systems using isometric drawings and develop associated bills of material.
  • Develop industrial communication networks.
  • Coordinate and lead the selection of equipment and specification for electrical systems and industrial facilities.

Project Execution

  • Coordinate with engineering, estimating, project management, fabrication, and construction teams to support project execution.
  • Assist with project estimates and electrical scope development.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering resource during installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Perform functional testing and checkout procedures on completed electrical systems.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, engineers, contractors, and fabrication personnel to support project quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
  • Manage electrical contractors and fabrication resources to ensure project quality, safety, and schedule requirements are met.
  • Travel domestically and internationally approximately 10-20% annually to support project installation, commissioning, and startup activities.

Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow established electrical engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support the implementation of engineering process improvements and standardization efforts.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial manufacturing, energy, renewable energy, or similar industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting the design of industrial power, controls, and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and engineering design practices.
  • Experience supporting installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment with multidisciplinary project coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience specifying and selecting industrial electrical equipment, including:
    • Switchgear
    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
    • Generators
    • Medium- and high-voltage transformers
    • Water treatment and utility systems
    • HVAC equipment
    • Auxiliary support equipment
    • PLC and Networking devices
  • Experience interpreting and working with P&IDs.
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
