Primary Objective

MTS creates machines used to test and develop the worldโ€™s newest materials, from high strength metal alloys to composites and the components that are made from them. Our customers are developing these materials to be used in extreme applications which require unique test conditions such as very high or cryogenic temperatures. 

This position is focused on the support and delivery of servo hydraulic motion controllers built to simulate those unique applications. Products include the MTS FlexTest controller, temperature controllers, electrical cables, Criterion and Acumen systems, and application software.  This includes release of new and upgrade projects, support of Project Engineers and review of quotes for accuracy.  We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated person to join our team! 

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Support projects in the Materials business group defining FlexTest controllers for new systems and field upgrades to existing equipment.  This includes supporting application/sales engineers with technical quote reviews, creating documentation for Operations to build and test controllers, support of Field Service Engineers at customer sites, and other electrical engineering product support.
  • Provide quote support to the AE/Sales team for new opportunities. Includes review of quotes for approval before presentation to the customer.  Work with Applications and Sales Engineering to make corrections.
  • Develop bills of materials and drawings for new controller systems and upgrades.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles and standards for the support of solutions.
  • Work with vendors as needed on specifications, schedule and cost to support projects, products and quote opportunities. 
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to create a fully aligned system solution. 
  • Support new product development programs with electrical content.  This includes product definition, prototype builds, integration with existing systems, and product launch support. 
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives related to installation and quote quality. 
  • Monitor and engage with manufacturing, system assembly, and checkout operations as needed. 
  • Provide technical support for internal and external customers.

Education, Experience & Skills Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with SAP, Autocad electrical or other electrical engineering CAD software
  • Strong in analytical thinking and employing a ground-up approach to problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an eagerness to learn.
