Job description

Ziegler CAT is seeking an Electrical Engineer to help support our electric power generation group. In this role, you will collaborate across Ziegler's Power Systems division and other business lines to deliver integrated power systems solutions for commercial and industrial customers. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for design and technical support of electrical distribution systems for new projects and retrofits. The engineer works directly with sales, service technicians, project managers, and customers to deliver reliable power generation and distribution solutions. Preferred candidates will have a strong understanding of electrical distribution system standards, design, and operations along with experience with generator controls, paralleling systems, or switchgear.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with sales teams to review customer requirements and generate technical proposals
  • Provide endtoend engineering support for generator installations-site assessments, electrical evaluations, system layout, and integration with existing infrastructure
  • Recommend equipment (ATS, paralleling gear, switchgear) that meets project specifications
  • Design electrical systems, components, and equipment based on project requirements
  • Create schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Specify materials, components, and electrical equipment
  • Assist in planning and executing electrical engineering projects
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and testing
  • Work closely with the electric power sales team, project management, and our service teams
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and consulting engineers
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations as needed
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key clients and vendors in collaboration with other Ziegler sales representatives
  • Works with clients to understand their technical challenges and suggest solutions or improvements
  • Learn about CAT products, allied products and comparisons against competitive products in order to offer the best solutions based oncustomer interests and concerns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience) - Preferably in an Engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • PE certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of distributed generation systems, switchgear, controls schemes, and electrical design principles
  • Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills
  • Personal Attributes: Customer Focus, Problem Solving, Attention to Detail, Sociability, Achievement Orientation, forward thinking mindset and strong mechanical aptitude
  • Electric Power, Electrician, Generator, or Reciprocating Engine experience desired
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record

Travel:

  • Up to 25% over night travel

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing

The pay range for this position is

$109,700.00 to $137,100.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant's location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:
