Job Description

AECOM Water is a leading global engineering firm, and we are currently seeking a talented and motivated mid-level industrial Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in either Orange, CA, or Los Angeles, CA. The successful engineer will have experience with the design and development of medium and low-voltage electrical industrial power systems, including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives.  As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing design, construction, and assessment services for building electrical and energy systems in a wide range of projects, including water, wastewater, municipal, government, industrial, and commercial facilities. Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop medium and low-voltage electrical industrial power systems, including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives.
  • Implement process instrumentation and control systems to optimize facility operations.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering studies, reports, calculations, designs, specifications, and construction cost estimates, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Manage designs throughout the construction phase, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to information requests, and generating punch lists.
  • Collaborate within a project team environment, coordinating with other disciplines and design team members.
  • Establish performance parameters for electrical equipment based on project requirements and collaborate with equipment vendors to refine preliminary selections.
  • Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software and tools for electrical design and analysis.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in California, or ability to become licensed through reciprocity.
