Position Title: Electrical Engineer IV
Reports To: Electrical Engineering Manager
Work Location: Candidates must reside in California and be able to work from our Irvine, California office in accordance with the position's hybrid work schedule. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Qualifications:
  • US Person under ITAR requirement
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience, or equivalent experience aligned with the Electrical Engineer IV (Principal) level
  • Experience, competence, and expertise in some or all of the following areas:
    • Analog Circuit Design
      • DC Power Supplies
      • Batteries and charging Systems
      • AC Inverters
      • Data Acquisition (Signal conditioning, ADC/DAC)
      • Motor Drives
      • Transistor Control and drive circuits (BJT and MOSFET) (With GaNFET knowledge a plus)
    • High Speed Digital Circuit Design
      • Microsemi ProAsic and RTAX knowledge a plus
      • Microcontroller/Microprocessor Designs
      • Communication Interface Design
    • CAD Tools
      • Schematic Capture and PCB Layout - DxDesign preferred
      • Analog circuit Simulation - Pspice (OrCAD), LTspice preferred
    • In-depth knowledge of relevant tools and technologies
  • Systems integration and testing experience.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electronic schematics, and software flowcharts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and Access preferred.

Key Results:
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Create electronic hardware designs that meet or exceed product requirements and specifications
  • Generate documentation for the designs created, including but not limited to design analysis and "as built" measurements and results, including technical guidance for PCB layout design
  • Develop product specifications that meet or exceed customer requirements and that are within customer and Company deadlines and budget
  • Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities
  • Prepare complete technical Data Reports and Design Review data packages achieving first pass customer approval/acceptance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers by providing technical guidance in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components.
  • Support proposal efforts with relevant content

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials
  • Confirm system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties
  • Develop electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials
  • Complete detailed design analysis and documentation to support high level customer product functionality and reliability reviews
  • Prepare for, attend and make technical presentations to existing and prospective clients (e.g. design reviews, technical interchange meetings, etc.)
  • Systems integration and testing
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Digital and/or analog circuit design
  • Component research and selection.

  • Interface with other engineering team disciplines.
  • Developing efficient and cost-effective, best-value type product designs.
  • Provide technical guidance to PCB fab and PCB Assembly vendors.
  • Support Procurement team with electronics parts related questions and provide alternate parts when necessary.
  • Failure analysis on electrical systems, products, components.
  • Provide estimated engineering hours and schedule to program managers.
  • Design test cables, flight cables, EMI cables, TVAC cables.
  • Work with mechanical engineer on electro-mechanical drawings and review and give feedback to mechanical engineering on assembly drawings.
