Job Description
Job Summary
Design and install systems that will allow the company to measure, monitor, and control the flow of gas at company facilities and provide support to Operations in the maintenance of those facilities. Drive operational excellence and standardization through continuous improvement efforts and effective partnerships across NiSource. Ensure that work is in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory requirements while ensuring safe, reliable service to customers in an efficient and economical manner.
This role is open to candidates within the Ohio NiSource service territory. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the designated work location to be considered.
Essential Functions
  • Provide training and guidance to new and less experienced I&C personnel.
  • Develop equipment replacement strategies and design gas measurement, monitoring, control, and field SCADA systems, along with associated software programming, in conformance with Company Standards, AGA/API codes, field conditions, and within budget constraints.
  • Plan and manage large scale field SCADA construction projects in coordination with outside contractors, company employees, and customers, including developing specifications, estimating, and procurement of measurement, monitoring, and control applications
  • Develop control and measurement operating and maintenance procedures and provide technical support to various departments to implement those procedures
  • Configure, test, evaluate, and operate various types of electronic and communications equipment
  • Respond to emergencies and provide technical assistance to Field Operations problems during and after normal working hours.
  • Leverage best practices and change management to develop, coordinate, and conduct training for field personnel
  • Lead or participate in special projects.
  • Prepare reports and annual budgets as required by the department or regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain customer-focused working relationships with Operations and Engineering partners, seeking and incorporating stakeholder feedback, to align objectives and department goals to ensure compliance requirements and corporate objectives are met
  • Attend schools and conferences relating to functions performed by the department; RTU programming, instrumentation, measurement, control, telecommunications, and job specific equipment utilized by the company.

  • Graduate from a four year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering program OR four year ABET accredited program with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology
  • 1+ years of relevant job experience in related field.

  • Good understanding and ability to use various electronic test equipment
  • Proficient in the use of computers
  • Good working knowledge of standard PC software

Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree from an ABET accredited program
  • 5+ years working experience in the engineering function
  • Experienced in the application of the National Electrical Code
  • Experienced in configuring and/or programming process controllers
  • Strong technical knowledge in measurement, pressure regulation, control, and telecommunications
  • Demonstrated proficiency of the Instrumentation & Control Engineer tasks or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of AC and DC electricity and demonstrated ability to use electronic test equipment
  • Proficient in the use of computers and standard PC software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills skills
  • Good working knowledge of gas measurement principals and AGA guidelines
