Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

An Electrical Journeyman is responsible for installing, alteration, addition and repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials on construction projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Electrical Installations:

Install wiring systems, outlets, fixtures, and other components. Independently install switchboards, transformer raceways, and lighting control systems. Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

    2. Testing and Inspection:

Conduct tests on electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.

    3. Lead A Small Team:

Manage a small team of apprentices providing guidance and training as needed.

    4. Strong Communication Skills:

Collaborate with Foreman and team members to complete projects on time and within budget.

    5. Project, Material & Planning:

Assist Foreman with apprentice daily layouts, and tool/material ordering for upcoming phases of work.

    6. Troubleshoot:

Identify and resolve complex electrical issues during course of construction.

    7. Equipment Operation:

Have the experience and ability to operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and single man-lifts, etc. in order to perform scope of work.

    8. Safety:

Maintain and work with a โ€œsafety firstโ€ approach to all work while remaining in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and standards. Maintain clean, organized work areas.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

5-10 years of experience in the electrical field.

Valid Certified General Electrician License or Electrical Trainee Certification.

OSHA 30 Certified is plus.

Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to work in various weather conditions and diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and the use of hands and arms to operate the equipment.

Must have good vision, strong sense of balance and no fear of heights.

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, blueprints, pipe bending, and industry NEC code.

Must possess problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Must be fluent in both the speaking and writing of English.
