Job description

Title: Master's Level Therapy Intern

FLSA status: N/A

Salary Range: Unpaid

Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer

Location: Basalt or Rifle, CO; to include some travel throughout AHC service footprint from Aspen to Parachute

Position Summary:

Aspen Hope Center is committed to fostering a supportive, growth-oriented learning environment grounded in clinical excellence, collaboration, and community impact. The Master's Level Therapy Intern will provide supervised counseling services to clients as part of their graduate training program. This internship is designed to help students during the second year of their Master's program to develop clinical skills, apply theoretical knowledge, and gain practical experience in a professional setting while working toward licensure requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities (under supervision):

  • Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling under supervision
  • Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and document sessions in accordance with agency policies
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and ethical documentation in compliance with legal, professional, organizational standards, and insurance requirements
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision with a licensed counselor
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate client care
  • Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and case consultations as required
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines, confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA), and institutional policies
  • Engage in self-reflection and incorporate feedback to grow clinical competencies
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, and other mental health professionals to ensure holistic and coordinated care
  • Contact other agencies (EMS, child protective services, law enforcement, etc.) when necessary, following mandated reporter guidelines
  • Acknowledges and adheres to all policies and procedures of Aspen Hope Center
  • Completes additional tasks and training as requested by the Therapy Program Consultant and Chief Clinical Officer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethics
  • Commitment to cultural competence and serving diverse populations
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based setting
  • Skilled in basic computer operations including the use of the Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite and general data management.
  • Uphold personal boundaries with clients, practitioners and other agencies
  • Ability to maintain composure, professionalism, and structure in any given situation
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality at all times and adhere to the minimum necessary rule

Credentials and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field
  • Must be eligible to earn internship credit through their academic program
  • Must pass any required background checks and tb testing
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus

Supervision:

  • Intern will receive regular supervision from a licensed clinical supervisor who meets the qualifications for overseeing internship hours as required by the intern's academic program and licensure board.
