About the Role

PATHS, LLC is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented ED Financial Counselor to support patients within the Emergency Department at our clients hospital in the Allentown, PA area. 

In this patient-facing role, you will assist individuals and families with understanding insurance coverage, applying for medical assistance programs, and navigating healthcare-related financial resources during urgent and often stressful situations. This position plays a vital role in improving patient access to care and reducing financial barriers in the emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with applying for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and other applicable programs
  • Counsel patients on medical bills, insurance benefits, and available financial resources
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication in a fast-paced emergency department setting
  • Accurately document patient information and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Work collaboratively with hospital staff to support patient financial navigation
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:

Training Requirement

  • Required training at the Allentown, PA office
  • Training schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current car insurance
  • Experience in a healthcare facility preferred
  • Insurance billing, Medicaid eligibility, patient advocacy, or social work experience      preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Trustworthy, detail-oriented, and goal-driven
  • Comfortable working in a hospital emergency department environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of required screenings in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, including:
