The Franciscan Health ED Technician II provides direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician, of all age groups from neonate through geriatric. This position may assist with patient transfers, repositioning, transporting of patients, obtaining supplies, or specimens, and any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
  • Perform cardiac monitoring duties, like EKGs, to ensure accurate monitoring of patient condition.
  • Gather equipment to start an IV when requested (secure IV pump, tubing, IV start kit, IV catheter).
  • Provide equipment for lumbar puncture, Central line, I.V. insertion, and chest tube insertion.
  • Intervene with CPR and first assist if necessary.
  • Label and transport specimens to the laboratory.
  • Perform wound care and prepare the patient for wound closure.
  • Complete assignments and reports to the responsible Registered Nurse.
  • Utilize knowledge/experience of the hospital safety plan, and act accordingly during codes and drills.
  • Orient patient/family to surroundings and instruct on how to call for assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Emergency Department Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
