University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery

Job Title: Surgical Tech (Healthcare Technician II)  Position #: - Requisition #:

Job Summary:

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an opening for a PRN Surgical First Assistant Tech at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital.

Job duties:

                Direct care includes practice in Perioperative, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Operating Room levels of care

                Prepare operating room, equipment, and patient for surgery

                Maintain sterile field and follow safety protocols

                Assist surgeon by handling instruments and anticipating needs

                Provide visibility of surgical site (retracting, suctioning, sponging)

                Control bleeding and assist with suturing and wound closure

                Positions patient using stabilizing equipment to give best exposure for surgical procedure  while maximizing patient comfort and safety.

                Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer after surgery

                Ensure accurate counts of instruments and supplies

                Document involvement and support post-operative care

                FTE: PRN, 0.0, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

       High School diploma or GED.

       One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position

       Surgical Technologist program

       Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) by ABSA. State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration.

       Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.

Preferred Qualifications:

                Associates Degree

                1 year experience in medical office/hospital setting
