Position Summary

The Senior ERP Analyst serves as a senior technical analyst for Highline Warren's Sage 100 ERP platform and related business applications. Reporting to the Director of ERP Applications and taking daily direction from the ERP Technical Lead, this role is responsible for translating approved business requirements into detailed technical requirements, solution specifications, system configurations, integrations, reports, customizations, and testing plans. The position supports the reliable operation, enhancement, and optimization of Sage 100 and connected systems while ensuring solutions are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with established technical standards.

The Senior ERP Analyst partners with Product Owners, Business Analysts, ERP Analysts, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders to evaluate technical approaches and deliver ERP capabilities. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for Sage 100 administration, configuration, User Defined Fields, User Defined Tables, User Defined Scripts, Custom Office, Visual Integrator, reporting, data integrity, integrations, upgrades, and advanced troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Requirements & Solution Design

  • Translate approved business requirements into detailed technical requirements, functional specifications, configuration notes, integration requirements, reporting specifications, and testing criteria.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, ERP Analysts, and the ERP Technical Lead to clarify requirements and define technically feasible ERP solutions.
  • Evaluate solution options for scalability, maintainability, performance, security, data integrity, and upgrade compatibility.
  • Document technical designs, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and support considerations for ERP enhancements and projects.

Sage 100 Technical Configuration & Customization

  • Configure, maintain, and support Sage 100 modules, application settings, security-related configuration, forms, import/export processes, and related system controls.
  • Design, test, deploy, and troubleshoot Sage 100 customizations including User Defined Fields (UDFs), User Defined Tables (UDTs), User Defined Scripts (UDS), Custom Office enhancements, and role-specific screen modifications.
  • Analyze existing Sage 100 customizations and recommend improvements to reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and preserve future upgrade compatibility.
  • Support Sage 100 tools and technical capabilities such as Visual Integrator, Business Object Interface concepts, scripting, custom reports, and third-party add-on configuration.

Integrations & Data Management

  • Support integrations between Sage 100 and related systems including warehouse, EDI, payment processing, tax, reporting, shipping, and other business-critical applications.
  • Analyze and resolve interface failures, data synchronization issues, transaction errors, and integration exceptions.
  • Develop and support data extracts, imports, reconciliations, validation procedures, and conversion activities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Sage 100 data structures, file layouts, transaction flows, and downstream data dependencies.

Technical Troubleshooting & Support

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex Sage 100 application, customization, reporting, data, and integration issues.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis and coordinate resolution across internal IT teams, vendors, developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor recurring issues and recommend permanent corrective actions that improve stability, reliability, and supportability.
  • Support production issue triage, change validation, and post-deployment stabilization activities.

Reporting & Technical Data Analysis

  • Create and maintain SQL queries, data extracts, report requirements, report validations, and technical documentation for ERP reporting needs.
  • Support reporting tools and custom reports used with Sage 100, including Crystal Reports, SSRS, Power BI, or similar platforms where applicable.
  • Investigate reporting discrepancies by tracing data across Sage 100 tables, custom fields, integrations, and downstream reporting environments.
  • Support data governance efforts by identifying data quality issues, validation gaps, and integration-related risks.

Testing, Release & Upgrade Support

  • Lead technical testing activities including configuration testing, unit testing, system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and deployment validation.
  • Develop technical test plans, scripts, validation scenarios, and release checklists for Sage 100 changes and related integrations.
  • Support Sage 100 upgrades, patches, third-party add-on updates, compatibility testing, and cutover planning.
  • Coordinate release readiness and post-release support with ERP Technical Lead, vendors, developers, infrastructure resources, and business testers.

Project & Technical Workstream Leadership

  • Lead technical workstreams for Sage 100 enhancements, integrations, reporting initiatives, upgrades, and operational improvement projects.
  • Provide effort estimates, technical risk assessments, implementation options, and solution recommendations.
  • Coordinate technical activities with vendors, contractors, ERP Analysts, developers, and cross-functional IT teams.
  • Support project planning, status reporting, issue tracking, and dependency management under the direction of the ERP Technical Lead.

Mentorship & Standards

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to ERP Analysts and business super users on Sage 100 functionality, configurations, data, testing, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Promote consistent documentation standards for technical requirements, customizations, processes, integrations, reports, and support procedures.
  • Contribute to ERP governance by helping establish standards for configuration, scripting, testing, documentation, and change control.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of ERP application support, configuration, implementation, or technical analyst experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Sage 100 ERP in a technical analyst, application analyst, or ERP support role.
  • Experience translating approved business requirements into technical requirements, functional specifications, configuration designs, testing criteria, and support documentation.
  • Experience with Sage 100 configuration, data structures, reporting, integrations, and transaction processing.
  • Experience developing, supporting, or troubleshooting Sage 100 User Defined Fields (UDFs), User Defined Tables (UDTs), User Defined Scripts (UDS), Custom Office enhancements, or similar Sage 100 customizations.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, database querying, data validation, data extracts, or reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting ERP testing, deployment, upgrade, and release management activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, technical documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities independently while collaborating with Product Owners, Business Analysts, technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep technical expertise with Sage 100 including Custom Office, Visual Integrator, User Defined Scripts, User Defined Fields, User Defined Tables, custom forms, import/export jobs, and technical configuration.
  • Experience with Sage 100 Business Object Interface (BOI), SDK concepts, ProvideX, or working with third-party Sage 100 development partners.
  • Experience with Sage 100 integrated solutions or related add-ons such as ScanForce, MAPADOC, Paya, Avalara, Vertex, SPS Commerce, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting Sage 100 modules such as Inventory Management, Sales Order, Purchase Order, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bill of Materials, Work Order, or Production Management.
