EAF Melt Shop Operations Apprentice
Itโs whatโs inside that counts. Step into the heart of steelmaking at CMC, where your learning curve is steep, your impact is tangible, and your team has your back from day one.
A day in the melt shop
You arrive for shift change, review equipment inspection logs, and head to the pulpit. From there, you scan the furnace, casting, ladle furnace, and refractory areas for anything out of the ordinary. You jump in where youโre neededโsupporting the Ladle Furnace operator, communicating with the crane operator, helping maintenance with minor fixes, or filling in as a Scrap Crane Operator or Second Helper. You keep safety front and center, document inspections, and help the crew keep the area clean and organized. By the end of the shift, youโve advanced your knowledge of start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures and contributed to a smooth, safe heat.
