Job description

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Dynamics NAV (Navision 2018) Lead Technical Consultant to take ownership of our Navision system during a vendor transition period. This person will assume technical leadership, manage the system's health, and support ongoing development and integration efforts.
The successful candidate will collaborate with both client stakeholders and vendor teams to ensure seamless operations, license management, and future upgrades. Key Responsibilities:
1. Transition & System Takeover
Lead technical system handover from the client's current environment.
• Review and understand customizations, extensions, and integrations (e.g., SAP, SPS Commerce, WMS, DOMS, ODS).
• Conduct system audit to assess code quality, custom developments, and performance bottlenecks.
2. System Administration & Support
• Oversee Navision 2018 production and development environments.
• Troubleshoot functional and technical issues in NAV.
• Perform NAV user setup, permissions, and role configurations (SUPER, custom roles, etc.).
3. Customization & Development
• Develop and maintain custom NAV objects (tables, reports, pages, and code units).
• Enhance existing NAV customizations as per business requirements. Manage data migration tasks and batch processing routines.
• Implement SQL query optimization for performance tuning.
4. Integration & Interfaces
. Maintain and enhance integrations with third-party systems (SAP, SPS Commerce, DOMS, ODS, WMS, etc.).
Collaborate with internal/external teams on EDI, data flows, and automation.
5. Technical Documentation & Best Practices
. Maintain up-to-date technical documentation (customization details, workflows, architecture diagrams, etc.).
• Implement coding standards and best practices aligned with Microsoft Dynamics development guidelines.
• Train and upskill junior team members or client's internal teams if required. Key Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Dynamics NAV (Navision) development and support.
• Strong knowledge of NAV 2018 (C/AL, AL programming) and Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem.
• Experience with NAV licensing and PartnerSource/Customer Source license management.
• Proficiency in SQL Server-querying, optimization, and backup/restore processes.
• Expertise in system integrations (REST APIs, OData, EDI, SOAP Web Services).
• Understanding of business processes like finance, inventory, sales,
procurement, and warehousing.
Preferred:
• Experience in vendor transition projects (taking over systems from another vendor).
. Familiarity with third-party tools (ForNAV etc) and extensions integrated with NAV.
• PowerShell scripting for NAV administration.
Key Competencies:
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
