Job description

The Drywall Service Technician is a skilled trade in drywall finishing and repair of commercial and residential construction. They must be able to determine whether the issue results from a poorly finished job, settlement of the house or building, or other issues. They will identify drywall imperfections and complete repair, matching textures to blend with existing surfaces. The company will provide training, testing, and skill proficiency and performance assessments as a skilled professional. Completing all trade, hazard awareness, and safety training is required to maintain employment. Good work ethic.
Requirements:
  • Driving vehicle required: Must be 21+ years old with a clean driving record (MVR check).
  • Must possess & maintain a valid driver's license and have own reliable transportation with proof of insurance and limits of liability as required by our company.
  • Background check. Must be able to work in the USA.
  • Must be punctual, flexible, be able to do overtime work as needed, and work in all seasons and weather conditions.
  • Screening: After acceptance of the job offer must pass a strength and agility test. If the applicant does not pass, the job offer is withdrawn.
  • IT Technology: Must function and communicate with a cell phone, mobile device apps, GPS, and send/receive emails.
  • Tools: Apprentice will own basic tools. Journeyman and Master Repair Technician must own more advanced tools of the trade.

The keys to success in this position are the willingness to learn:
  • Efficiently install drywall and trims
    • cut drywall to the correct size for repair and screw in place
    • knowledge of simple math
  • Efficiently tape drywall
    • put drywall tape on walls and ceilings
      • apply tape to joints and angles
    • cover the tape and screws with compound until they are flat and smooth
    • sand or sponge so there are no rough edges
  • Expected to learn all types of texture
    • match texture either by hand or hopper and compressor
  • Climbing scaffolds as high as 30' and ladders up to 14'
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Learn basic masking skills to ensure cleanliness and surface protection
  • Maintain a clean work area before the start of repair and upon completion
  • Standing and walking for up to eight hours, except for lunch and two 15-minute breaks
