Job description

Under direct supervision, the Services Specialist performs set-ups, deliveries, cleaning, and upkeep of academic buildings. Regular schedule is Monday through Friday 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm. Weekends scheduled on a rotating basis, dependent upon demand.

Position Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $17.50 - $18.50. This is the expected hourly rate for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Completes routine and special set-ups and take-downs throughout campus.
  • Moves furniture as directed.
  • Receives outside deliveries and disperses according to direction.
  • Performs custodial duties throughout campus, including arranging classrooms, cleaning and restocking lavatories, as needed.
  • Maintains service equipment, ensuring its good condition and proper use.
  • Shovels snow and de-ices steps and walkways as directed.
  • Reports equipment and items in buildings that require repair.
  • Interfaces with work order and scheduling software for up-to-date information regarding daily tasks.
  • Completes assigned work orders and, when needed, generates new work orders.
  • Assists other departments as needed.

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Supports the University's mission, vision and values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Competence with technology, such as work order or scheduling software.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision.
  • Ability to solve problems that arise during the evening shift.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require regular movement between indoor and outdoor campus locations, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Work is often physically demanding in nature and may require walking, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Required abilities include frequent use of fine motor skills to push, pull, or maneuver a range of equipment. Work requires regular lifting of objects up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Qualified applicants who can perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations will be considered.
